Utopia tours is born

Utopia tours is a company that I started in 2014 and it is all about giving people a tour of Savannah that they will never forget.  It all started when James Edward Oglethorpe and the original 114 colonists arrived on Yamacraw Bluff in 1733.  Oglethorpe, and 21 other Englishmen, set out to create a utopian society in between the English in Carolina and the Spanish in Florida.  They wanted it to be a religious haven. A place where persecuted Protestants could come and worship freely.  They also wanted to bring a lot of the citizens that were in debtors prison over here and give them a fresh start. Half of the Trustees for the colony of Georgia were prison reformers under Oglethorpe. When he arrived he signed a treaty with the Creek indians and gave Yamacraw Bluff a new name, "Savannah." The story goes on but it is much better to take the tour and experience it all for yourself!

On the tour you will hear about the religious groups that came over to Savannah. The Salzbergers, the Moravians, and the Jews.  You will also learn about Oglethorpe's plan and see how he laid out the town.  You will get to see first hand that it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I was born and raised in Savannah and then moved to Atlanta for twenty years, but once you get Savannah sand in your shoes it is hard to get it out. I love living in Savannah, Georgia and I love showing people the historic district!
